Press Release
Richmond, VA - Virginians Advocating for Seniors thanks Senator Barbara Favola and Secretary of Finance Mark Sickles for recognizing the importance of Medicaid readjustment during the May 19 Senate Finance & Appropriations Committee meeting.
During the discussion, Senator Favola raised concerns about the potential impact of federal legislation on Medicaid reimbursement funding, including the challenges of planning for eligibility checks and reductions in insurance coverage.
Secretary Sickles echoed those concerns, noting that Virginia has “a lot to worry about.”
As budget discussions continue, Virginia currently lacks any inflationary adjustment for hospitals and nursing homes. Virginians Advocating for Seniors appreciates Senator Favola and Secretary Sickles for keeping this issue front and center.
VAFS remains committed to uniting leaders across long-term care to advance policies that protect older Virginians, support caregivers, and strengthen the future of aging services in the Commonwealth.
