Virginians Advocating for Seniors Thanks Governor Spanberger and General Assembly Leaders for Long-Term Care Support in Biennial Budget

RICHMOND, Va.— Virginians Advocating for Seniors (VAFS) thanks Governor Spanberger and the General Assembly for enacting the FY 2027-FY 2028 biennial budget, which underscores Virginia’s commitment to provide its seniors with sufficient resources to ensure high-quality care.  

This budget combines strong accountability with more flexibility and predictability, thereby allowing Virginia’s nursing facilities to invest in people, stabilize operations, and ensure access for Virginians who need high-quality care close to home. 

This reflects the deep commitment by both the Spanberger Administration and the General Assembly to strengthen long-term care across the Commonwealth. We thank Secretary Sickles, Secretary Figueroa, Director Ford, and Commissioner Webb for their leadership. We also commend the legislative champions who delivered for Virginia’s seniors this year, including Speaker Scott, Chair Torian, Chair Lucas, Senator Deeds, Senator Favola, Senator Pillion, Delegate Bloxom, Delegate Willett, Delegate Krizek and so many others. 

VAFS will continue to work collaboratively with state policymakers, our residents, families, employees, and community partners to ensure that Virginia’s seniors receive the quality care and dignity they deserve.
